What All World Gayatri Pariwar is

The All World Gayatri Pariwar (AWGP) is a global spiritual and social movement founded by Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya. It is carried forward by a very large family of volunteers — with thousands of centres across India and around a hundred more internationally. Its work spans holistic well-being, women’s empowerment, value-based education, community awakening and a “transformation of thought,” all directed towards the dawn of a better era.

Shantikunj’s role

Shantikunj, in Haridwar, is the headquarters of the mission. It coordinates the movement’s activities and organisational structures, and continually initiates new programmes in the spirit of Gurudev’s vision. As a living academy for moral and spiritual awakening — offering training, daily yagya and Gayatri practice, and guidance to seekers from across the world — Shantikunj has grown into the fountain-head of the global Yug Nirman movement.

A volunteer-based, global structure

AWGP is, above all, a movement of dedicated volunteers supported by a clear organisational framework. Broadly, the work is organised into zones and subzones; subzone offices support district-level centres and keep them coordinated with the wider body. At the local level, district centres organise the volunteers and the smaller units through which most activity actually happens.

Mandals and other structures (in brief)

• Mandals — small groups of volunteers formed around specific activities (such as outreach, cultural programmes, education, disaster relief and women’s empowerment). They are the bedrock of the movement’s day-to-day work.
• Shaktipeeths — local centres that act as spiritual hubs and points of administration and coordination for the Mandals around them.
• Chetana Kendras — larger centres that oversee subzone/state-level operations.
• Pragya Peeths — centres for deeper spiritual learning and practical training.

This is a high-level sketch; the movement adapts these structures to local needs around the world.

Spiritual development and social transformation

At the heart of AWGP is a simple conviction: lasting change in society begins with change within the individual. Spiritual practice and social service are treated not as separate paths but as two sides of the same work — as individuals rise to a higher, more enlightened level of consciousness, that refinement flows outward into families and communities, gradually shaping a better world.
